Let me introduce myself. I am David Bertram, a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto (U of T) where I studied Vocal Performance Education.
I won multiple scholarships in both the Faculties of Music and Education at U of T.
I have been performing ever since I was 5 years old and have been teaching for over 20 years, and I find singing and teaching singing a most rewarding experience.
As a performer I have sung bass solos in Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Florence, London, Paris, Toronto and Stratford. My solo performances have included Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and various secular and sacred smaller works with professional and community choirs.
I have stage directed and vocal directed musical theatre productions, conducted choirs for over ten years, toured choirs nationally and internationally, taught in the school system, adjudicated festivals, and given vocal master classes.
Currently, I teach voice privately in my studio and I am an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and a certified teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
When I need a break from this frantic life, I take time to enhance my multinational model train layout, or with my wife I retreat quietly into our country garden, nicknamed The Fortress of Solitude.
